115: Best Uses for Immersion Blenders

Show Notes – Episode 115: Immersion Blenders and Pantry

On the latest episode of Lady Journey Katie and Sarah start off with a digression on the art of the panty drawer and segue into their new lifestyles as immersion blender owners. Then the ladies do a deep dive into keeping a fully stocked pantry.

Immersion Blenders

By total coincidence Katie and Sarah got the same blender for Christmas. They’re both using the Kitchenaid Hand Blender. Sarah’s used the blender for Tomato Soup, Baked by Melissa’s Green Goddess dressing and her own homemade pesto. Katie became a white stereotype and made a cauliflower soup with simmer sauce.

Keeping a Fully Stocked Pantry

  1. For fast shopping journeys, go to the website of the stores, mark the correct location and check if they have the product. Target even tells you the aisle, thankfully, so you can avoid to have to ask an employee 🙃

  2. Immersion blenders are indeed great for soups and salad dressings. Here’s my favorites: (1) Melissa Clark’s Red Lentil Soup https://archive.fo/YTYCF#selection-409.17-409.39 (2) Caesar Salad: Dressing [1 egg yolk/1t dijon mustard/1T red or white wine vinegar/25g of anchovies (half-a-tin), 1 garlic minced, half of a lemon juiced, 1/3-1/2c oil, and finally adding some parmesan into after blending] (if you’re using olive oil, be careful to only use lowest speed setting https://www.seriouseats.com/does-blending-olive-oil-make-it-more-bitter), Croutons [impressive results just using regular white bread and toast on a frying pan with oil/salt/pepper] – then basically put salad together like this Gordon Ramsay’s version (chicken optional) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IGlWE4AFQ5Q

    1. That sounds amazing!!! Thanks for sharing. My go to for sardines is to just eat on a cracker drenched in djion mustard, perhaps a glass of white wine if i’m feeling naughty!
