122: Thrift Shops and Atomic Habits

Show Notes – Episode 122: Thrift Shops and Atomic Habits

On this weeks episode of Lady Journey, the ladies rip on diet culture, but promote drinking smoothies for the health benefits and the benefit of being condescending. Sarah dives into thrift shops and Katies gives the run down on her latest manic read: Atomic Habits.

Thrift Shops

The gals get into the pros of thrifting ie, sustainable, cost effective and cons ie, the compulsion to buy a neon vest because it’s designer label. Sarah prefers to search for brands she likes on sites like Poshmark. Katie loves to go to a few brick and mortar shops, like Beacon’s Closet, Crossroads, and Buffalo Exchange. The gals also go over similar challenges around discount stores like Tj Maxx.

Atomic Habits

Katie’s loving her new read Atomic Habits, especially because it’s not one of those self help books with tons of long analogy stories. So for she’s focusing on cues, triggers, and habit stacking.

Takeaways

  • Sourdough is a gateway bread.
  • Check in with yourself mentally when thrifting so you don’t come to at a friends birthday party wearing a Live Laugh Love Sweater.

Inspirational Quotes

  • “You’re not doing the environment any good if you’re thrifting, but you’re buying 18 pairs of jeans.” -Katie Hannigan
